The Essential Teacher Training & Yoga Studies 200 Hour Program
We support a systematic approach to your yoga practice in body, mind, and spirit. Our curriculum is tiered for progression in body, breath, and yogic philosophy. The program includes six intensive weekends, one per month, and outside study and practicum work.
Type of Program:
The Yoga North Yoga Study program has a focus in Hatha Yoga at the 200 hour level. Completion of this program results in 200 hours that can be submitted to Yoga Alliance for Yoga Alliance certification.Program Dates:

Yoga Study & Teacher Training Requirements:
Pre-registration consisting of an application (email our office to receive an application) and $50 deposit is required. Please submit your application as soon as possible. You will be notified by mail of your acceptance into the program. At least one year of a personal yoga practice is recommended.Core Faculty:
Deborah Adele ERYT 500 owner of Yoga North studio since 1999, holds two Masters degrees, certifications in Kundalini and Hatha yoga, and extensive studies in Meditation and Yogic Philosophy. Initiated into the Himalayan Tradition, Deborah has made numerous trips to India for continued studies. She is author of The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga's Ethical Practice, 2 instructional CDs, and numerous published articles. Deborah uses her knowledge and training to support others in living a life integrated with balance, clarity, and well-being. She lives in constant gratitude and appreciation for the richness of the yogic teachings, her teachers, and the experiences of her life.
Ann Maxwell RYT 500 owner of Yoga North studio since December 2001, holds a masters degree as well as certification in Hatha Yoga and Yoga for Cancer Survivors as well as extensive Yoga Therapy training with Susi Hately. An experienced wilderness adventure guide, Ann brings the spirit of adventure and curiosity to her expertise as a yoga instructor and business owner, grounding her ability in the practicality and expertise of the body. Ann is a model of yogic living for her students and brings a sense of wisdom and fun to the daily practice of yoga.
Guest Lecturers:
Adam Sundberg DC is a graduate of Northwestern Health Sciences University and currently practices chiropractic in Duluth. In his practice he focuses on assessing movement patterns, chiropractic adjustments, soft tissue techniques and rehabilitation, all of which he relates to his teaching at Yoga North. His yoga experience includes a regular Ashtanga practice and he enjoys integrating his knowledge of the body with the joy of practicing yoga.
Joe Lindgren RYT 500 has studied in depth in the Himalayan tradition and the Iyengar method, which emphasizes the detail and precision of alignment. A committed yoga practitioner of 20 years, Joe will be sharing his expertise in asana alignment and his love of the asana practice. Joe believes that the “focus on detail and precision in asana makes the poses come alive, and continually brings one to deeper levels of awareness in mind, body, and spirit.”
Molly McManus RYT 500 loves Yoga North for the warmth and sense of community it has brought to her life. She enjoys teaching postures and philosophy at Yoga North and with the wonderful students of UMD as well as her role as Administrative Director at the Northland’s premiere teaching school. Molly continues her development with continuous training in anatomy, therapeutic yoga and adaptive yoga as well as any philosophy courses she can find. The diversity in her interests, background, education and experience help her to create a relaxed, inviting and fun atmosphere to teach the wildly beneficial life skills of yoga. She is keenly aware that Joseph Campbell had it right when he said, "Follow your Bliss!"
Jill Pospisil KRI earned certification in Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan in 2003. A dedicated teacher and student of yoga practice, Jill is also a professional musician, performing and teaching music throughout the community. She is fascinated by the transformational qualities of sound vibration. Jill will use mantra and chanting to lead us in the experience of sound.
Kristin Fogard RYT 200 found herself in a beginning Hatha yoga class and discovered a new passion that has led to a fondness for the Ashtanga and Hatha traditions and the underlying philosophy that surrounds yoga. She recieved Hatha certification from Yoga North in the Spring of 2005 as well as continued indepth training from David Swenson. She spends her days working for St. Louis County as a Forest Technician enjoying Duluth's great outdoors.
Jillian Holmen RYT 200 received her certification from Yoga North in the Spring of 2005. Jillian's is mama to two small boys and Yogaplay instructor. She feels blessed to be able to find constant opportunity for practice in this busy life. It's ALL Yoga!! It's ALL Play!! And Yeah for those little gurus; who offer more lessons than we ever sign up for! A quote from a 5 year old Yogaplay friend sums up why she loves this gig: (in describing his original asana, Warrior IV) "It helps to encourage and opens the heart of your bones."
Sara Duke RYT 200 has had a life long interest in health and wellness. She has been practicing Yoga since 1998 and completed the 200 hour teacher certification requirements through Yoga North’s Teacher Training program in 2008. Her main focus right now is to allow ease and contentment in her yoga practice and in her life and to encourage her students to do the same. Her interest has led her to expertise in restorative yoga. As co-owner of On-Word Bound Books (a publishing company), Sara worked closely with Deborah Adele on her book, The Yamas & Niyamas: Exploring Yoga’s Ethical Practice.

The Yoga North Yoga Study program requires a total of 240 hours for completion. Topics include postures, adjustments, physiology & anatomy, breath, teaching methodology, student-teacher relationship, meditation, yamas & niyamas, and the chakra system. Program Cost:
Early registration special-- $2500 (plus $50 application fee) prior to September 17th, 2010 with a $700 deposit due upon acceptance into program and balance of $1700 due on or before the first session. Cost of the program after September 17th, is $2800, with $700 due upon acceptance into program, and the balance of $2000 due on or before the first session.
The cost includes 180 hours of core coursework, all
handouts & mailings, and access to the core teaching staff. Above
fees do not cover coursework done outside of Yoga North studio, the $50 application fee, or required books.
If preferred, a monthly payment plan may be chosen with an additional $100.00 administration fee, please inquire with the office for this option. Payment options include cash, check, Mastercard or Visa.
The Complete Teacher Training Program (Yoga North's 200 Hour and +300 Hour Program combined)
Make the commitment to yourself to finish your 200 hour and +300 hour trainings sequentially at Yoga North in our community. Sign up for the Complete program in advance and receive additional discounts on tuition. Cost of the Complete Program is $4950. This is an extraordinary savings of $950 (or $350 when compared to the prices of the individual programs early registration special).

sections 141.21 to 141.32. Licensure is not an endorsement of the
institution. Credits earned at the institution may not transfer to all
other institutions.
