Why Yoga Philosophy?

Home » Why Yoga Philosophy?

As you begin to experience the benefits of yoga postures, you may find yourself curious about Yoga Philosophy.  Yoga is an ancient science that welcomes all religious beliefs.  The teachings come from those who have had the experience of freedom and were in such joy from what they experienced that they wanted to share it with the rest of humanity.

Yoga philosophy encourages personal and social awakening and transformation.  In a world of stimulation that pulls us this way and that, yoga philosophy provides the tools to stay centered in our thoughts, keep love in our hearts, and make clear choices in our lives.

True North, Your Direction

To find true north, a compass must be adjusted to make up for the discrepancy between what it shows as true north and true north which is disguised by the earth’s magnetic pull.

Like the false north shown on a compass, our egos often pretend to guide our lives, luring us down a path of its own choosing, ignoring the essence of our soul.  Therefore a correction angle needs to be learned to stay on course.

We believe the ancient science of yoga is that correction angle.  Yoga science provides tools and guidance to adjust your life to the true essence and evolution of your soul.

Sadhana, Your Practice

Sadhana is the foundation of everything else in your life.  Sadhana, simply put, is your practice.  What are you practicing to become more of?  Know your intention and then follow it.

The Philosophy we provide at Yoga North is to facilitate you practicing being on purpose with yourself.  Please spend some time being choiceful about what you want and then being disciplined to pursue it.

Like a drop of water eventually shapes a rock, it isn’t how much we cram into a day, but the consistency of being on task with ourselves that brings the change we desire.  Nothing is insignificant that is done consistently over a period of time; it is the consistency that eventually brings us the fulfillment of ourselves.
